The cherry blossom festival in Washington, DC, is famous for good reason. The stunning blooms are only here for a short time - just a few days to a week! Because of their popularity, I only offer a few peak cherry blossom sessions each year.
Your peak bloom portrait session is all-inclusive. You'll get the full set of digital photos, along with a few extra perks you'll see above. Also, if the prediction changes (as it often does), you have the option of rescheduling so you get the best chance for cherry blossoms in your photos! Peak bloom refers to when the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin all bloom at the same time! This stunning display of blossoms makes for beautiful photos. On average, the peak bloom usually happens the last week of March or first week of April. The predictions don't come out until early March, and they often change the prediction as we get closer to spring. You can learn more here!
You can also view a cherry blossom session here!
You'll book a date and time based on my availability and the peak bloom prediction. If the prediction shifts, we can reschedule as needed based on my availability. The National Park Service does require a photography permit. I will take care of that for all of my peak cherry blossom clients. All you'll have to do is show up the day of the session and enjoy the beautiful blooms!
Simply email info@emilyalyssa.com with the date you would like to book. From there you'll receive an online proposal. To reserve the date, you'll sign the contract and pay the non-refundable session fee, which can both be done online. The remaining balance is due the day before your session.
I'm a hybrid photographer, which means I shoot with a mix of digital and film. By film, I mean old school, physical rolls of film I send off to a lab to have developed (not video)! I use film because it allows me to slow down as an artist and be extra intentional with every photo. It also gives you soft, creamy tones that are simply not replicated in digital photos. You'll receive your film photos as digital scans, so they will be easily integrated in your final gallery.
You can expect your photos 4 weeks after your session! You can expect to see at least 35 edited digital images in each session (although sometimes you get more depending on how everything goes)! The photos will be delivered in an online gallery.
Absolutely! These sessions only refer to the peak bloom dates for the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin. There are cherry blossom trees throughout the DMV, and you are welcome to schedule a regular portrait session. April is the best month to try for cherry blossoms in general. Send me a note to chat!
